Bere Island (sometimes spelled as Bear Island) lies under the Beara peninsula, in the beautiful southwest of Ireland.

The closest town on the mainland is Castletownbere, from where two ferry services depart to the island. The ferrytrip only takes about fifteen minutes, during which seals often pop their heads to welcome you.
